Experienced defenceman set to patrol Motor Nation Barons blue line
Papps is presented with with the Man of the Match award from Barons head coach Darren Bellerby following last season's Help for Heroes charity tie between the Barons and the Blaze.

Motor Nation Solihull Barons head coach Darren Bellerby has succeeded in securing the signature of former Coventry NL Blaze defenceman Kieran Papps.

24 year old Papps has played his entire senior career out of the Coventry Skydome but will be no stranger to the regulars at the Hobbs Moat Rink thanks to a hatful of "A45 Derbys" played by the two sides over the last couple of years.

A versatile player, Papps can play forward if required and while it is expected Bellerby will generally place Papps on the Barons blue line, Kieran's flexibility will be useful to help cover injury or suspension.

In his normal defensive position Papps strengths lie in his ability to close down the opposition, while keeping discipline and avoiding costly penalties.

For 2013-14 Papps will fill the Barons #27 shirt and his highly effective player is sure to be a key player on the Barons top lines.

Widnes Wild to Join EIHL Division 2

The Motor Nation Solihull Barons will have a new team to face in the upcoming season as the Widnes Wild join the fray. Playing out of a brand new rink, the Cheshire squad will take the place of the Fylde Flyers who have dropped out of senior hockey.

The squad is managed by Mick Caunce and coached by Mark Gillingham who has already secured the services of a number of North West based players. Not surprisingly, Bobby Caunce of the Fylde Flyers has followed his father Mick to Widnes, while ex Deeside Dragon defenseman Callum Ruddick has also signed for the new team.
