Coach Darren Bellerby was extremely pleased to bring back the captain of the 2010-11 Championship winning Barons.

"Big E (Rob Eley) agreeing to return this season was a big plus for me and the Barons. Rob is a big strong forward that gets the gritty stuff done. He is not afraid to get his nose dirty in front of net and is a key player for us. It was touch and go if we would retain Rob’s services for the 2011/2012 season. After recently starting a young family Rob was unsure if he would be able to commit this season due to a busy Family life & work but after several chats with Rob we were able to come to an agreement which would enable him to play with reduced responsibilities and simply enjoy his hockey."
