Known to many as "Leapy", Phil was the lynch pin in the Barons defence last year and even being at the better side of 45 he will go into the 2011 /2012 season with yet another season under his belt and is still rated as being one of the best defenseman in the League. At 45 Phil is in great shape and last season Phil finished on 8+37=45 Points in 24 games and finished as the highest point scoring defenseman in the ENL North last season.

Bellerby went on to say that Phil’s experience and dedication to the sport can not be questioned. "He gives 110% week in week out and brings a wise head to the Barons line up and this is something that you just cannot buy. Over his playing career Phil has played at the very best level of hockey in the UK as well as being a GB international. The experience that he brings to the guys and myself you just can't put a price on. I'm very much looking forward again to see Phil line up and help mould the younger guys we have coming through and firm up our defence once again". Leapy will wear the Assistants armband again this year.
